Torque wrenches for F connectors
The surface on
top of taps and on some F-female connectors is often out of
level (i.e. on passives with diecast taps). They should be
plane and smooth. The surface on such interfaces will - after a
while with temperature shifts - be stabilized, which can lead
to "loose" installed connectors and the potential problems
mentioned below, if not installed with a proper torque.
Corning Cabelcon recommends the
use of torque wrench spanners when installing F-connectors in
order to ensure an installation in accordance to SCTE*
standards for
a
long lifetime connection with
the highest performance.
The use of torque wrench spanners minimizes the risk of heavy
screening leakage, moisture ingress and poor return loss caused
by loose connectors. This can lead to corrosion, loss of
signals, interference, ghost pictures and heavy disturbances in
CATV networks with return path capability.
Remark: Please note that most twist-on connectors - which
should be avoided for use in professional applications – can
not withstand the recommended torque for F-connectors!
SCTE* recommends a torque of 3,4
- 5,6 Nm for F-connectors.
Please contact your local
distributor or one of Corning Cabelcon's sales departments for
further information.
